Vol. 418 No. 4

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Noonan (Limerick East): the inadequacy of the reply to Question No. 144 of 1 April 1992 to the Minister for the Environment regarding the inclusion of photographs of candidates on ballot papers; (2) Deputy G. Mitchell: whether the Minister for Justice intends to immediately take action to deal with the problem of gangs of youths intimidating citizens in Dublin; (3) Deputy Cotter: the need to re-open the jam making plant, formerly Lairds Foods in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, considering that a number of growers in the north east have no market for their respberries and strawberries; (4) Deputy Lee: the current controversy over the delay in providing coronary artery by-pass surgery; (5) Deputy McCartan: the inadequate police resources and police numbers assigned to the J district of the Dublin Metropolitan District Area and the need for urgent attention to be given to the rising crime rate and related problems of the residential areas of Dublin north east; (6) Deputy G. O'Sullivan: the dramatic increase in housing subsidies paid by the Southern Health Board last year; (7) Deputy Gilmore: the subject matter of replies to Questions Nos. 197 and 198 of 10 March 1992 concerning the provision of primary school facilities for children in the Ballyogan estate in County Dublin; (8) Deputy O'Shea: the consequences of changes relating to qualifications for pay-related benefit for employees of Waterford Crystal, who are on short-time working hours, and (9) Deputy Deenihan: the major problems facing many Irish groups involved in providing emigration services in the US following the withdrawal of funding by the Irish Government for 1992.

I have selected for discussion the maters raised by Deputies Gilmore, Lee and Gerry O'Sullivan.
