Michael Finucane

Ceist:

227 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline under the headings, (a) the numbers of applications paid, (b) the value of such payments, (c) the number of applications still to be paid, (d) the value of outstanding payments, (e) the number of applicants rejected and (f) the estimated value of these rejections for the following schemes, (1) ewe premium, (2) sheep headage, (3) cattle headage, (4) beef cow, (5) suckler cow premium, (6) suckler cow premium for small milk producers, (7) beef premium and (8) equine headage; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following are details of the number of applicants paid to date, the amounts paid and the percentages of applicants paid under the various headage and premium schemes for 1991:

At this stage it is not possible to indicate a definitive rejection figure or a definitive figure for outstanding payments for any of the schemes as many of the cases which have not yet been paid are the subject of queries and are still being examined.
Payment of £2.1 million to applicants under the EC suckler cow scheme for small-scale milk producers will commence later this month. About 6,000 applicants are involved. Under the third and final instalment of the 1991 ewe premium over 52,000 applicants will be paid in excess of £43 million very shortly.
