Vol. 418 No. 4
243 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Labour the total number of working days lost in, (a) Limerick city and (b) County Limerick from official and/or unofficial strikes for each of the years between 1989 to 1991.
The Central Statistics Office is the official source of statistics relating to industrial disputes but their published data do not differentiate between official and unofficial disputes. Estimates of industrial disputes are recorded by my Department on an individual company basis. From an examination of those records, an estimate of the number of days lost for companies located in the city and county of Limerick between 1989 and 1991 in respect of official strikes is given in the following Table. There were no unofficial strikes recorded in the period under review. It should be noted that these statistics cover days lost arising from strikes in companies located in Limerick but do not include data in respect of national or other strikes which may have affected Limerick.
