42 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself with the effectiveness of the Derelict Sites Act, and if he will consider any further measures to make the legislation more effective and more speedy.
The Derelict Sites Act, 1990 modernised the law relating to dereliction and gave local authorities the powers necessary for dealing speedily and effectively with this problem. I have no proposals to amend the legislation but I am, of course, keeping its operation under review.
