Vol. 420 No. 4

Written Answers. - Residence Visa.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

122 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice whether a residence visa is automatically issued to a foreigner who marries an Irish citizen who is resident in Ireland, and if not, if he will outline the factors which are taken into account in a decision as to whether such a visa is granted.

Non-national spouses of Irish citizens are generally granted permission to reside in the State, subject to their satisfying the relevant statutory requirements in this regard.
