Ceist:134 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Education if he will list the number of EC Directives applicable to his Department which are not yet in force in Irish Law, and the reason for the delay in the case of each Directive.

There are no EC Directives within the area of responsibility of my Department which require legislative action to transpose them into Irish Law.

Following is the information sought by the Deputy:

Draft Regulations currently being prepared. Some delay occurred because provisions of this Directive were amended by Directive 92/31/EEC which was published in the Official Journal of 12 May, 1992. The Department had also to await receipt of a Commission explanatory document regarding the scope of the Directive. |

Council Directive 89/552/EEC of 3 October 1989 on Pursuit of Television Broadcasting Activities. |

Mainly transposed into Irish law by implementation date due. Codes on Advertising and Sponsorship need to be drawn up to give complete effect to the Directive. These are not yet finalised as consultations with the sector are not completed. |
