Ceist:

106 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline, as a percentage of expenditure for both capital and current account, the cost of the full operations of the Houses of the Oireachtas as set out in Vote 2 of the Estimates for each of the years from 1980 to 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There has been no capital expenditure on the Vote for the Houses of the Oireachtas in the period 1980 to 1992. The following table shows the comparison between Vote 2 — Houses of the Oireachtas and the total non capital supply services bill and the percentage of the overall bill represented by Vote 2.

These figures show an increase of 338 per cent in funds allocated to the Houses of the Oireachtas between 1980 and 1992 while the overall non capital supply services bill, in the same period, increased by 163 per cent.
