Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Posts Advertisements.

Vincent Brady

Ceist:

119 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for Justice the reason posts (details supplied) recently advertised in the Dublin area are confined to applicants aged between 40 and 55, particularly in view of the large number of young people unemployed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is the view of the Garda authorities that these part-time posts are of a type particularly suitable for persons of a more mature age. For this reason, it was decided to confine applications to unemployed persons in the 40 to 55 age group. This was done also for the last such compeitition in 1990 and the Garda authorities are pleased with the calibre of candidates who emerged.
