Vol. 421 No. 9

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

105 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment when he will make an allocation of funding available to Cork County Council for housing schemes (details supplied).

The schemes referred to were not nominated by the county council as part of their authorised programme of new "starts" in 1992 and, subsequently, the question of funding does not arise at this stage.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

106 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment the number of new houses to be built in County Offaly in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the very long waiting lists for houses in that county.

The housing authorities in County Offaly have authorisation to commence or acquire 39 houses in 1992. When taken in conjunction with casual vacancies arising in existing stock, and the initiatives under the plan for social housing, I consider that this level of programme represents a reasonable response to the housing needs of the county.
