101 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement on the progress made on the provision of regional sports centres.

The information requested by the Deputy is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.

Regional Sports Centres.

Location	Project	Position
Cork	25 metre pool ancillary facilities	Both Cork and Athlone projects are being procured on the basis of a design, construct, part finance and manage package. Consortia proposals are under consideration by my Department, its consultant and by both local authorities.
Athlone	Multi Purpose Sport Centre
Galway	Phase I — UCG track and pitch	Tenders for this project have been approved.
	Phase II — Refurbishment and extension of the Leisureland Complex	Planning on Phase II proceeding in consultation with Galway Corporation with a view to work commencing on site in late 1992.
Limerick	Track refurbishment and establishment of National Coaching and Training Centre	NCTC has been established. New synthetic track and infield area provided. Office and laboratory accommodation and sport science equipment has been provided.
Tallaght	National Basketball Arena	Construction work has commenced.
Dublin, Baldoyle	Badminton Centre	Project completed.
Santry	Morton Stadium — New track, stand, and other improvements	Contract documents for track refurbishment are now completed and it is expected that work on the track and infield area will commence in late 1992.
Sligo	25 metre swimming pool with spectator facilities	Department has authorised Sligo Corporation to place the contract for the project and work is expected to be completed in late 1993.
Waterford	400 metre synthetic track plus ancillary works	Track completed in 1988 with associated ancillary works completed during 1990. Proposals for further development works are currently under consideration by Department.
