176 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Labour if he intends to proceed with the review of the Unfair Dismissals Act which was promised by his predecessor; if any deadline has been set for this process; when it is expected that the amending legislation will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is my intention to proceed with the introduction of a Bill to amend the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977 as promised by my predecessor. The Unfair Dismissals (Amendment) Bill, 1992 is at an advanced stage of preparation and I am confident that the Bill will be introduced in the Oireachtas on the earliest suitable date in the autumn session.
