178 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he intends to introduce a compulsory pre-movement test for brucellosis for all breeding stock which are offered for sale and a compulsory annual test for brucellosis on all suckler herds; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A comprehensive round of brucellosis testing on dairy and suckler herds has been carried out this year. Because of the emergence of a number of pockets of active infection the elements of the programme are being reviewed.
