Vol. 424 No. 6

Written Answers. - Employment of Disabled Persons.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

56 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will amend the Casual Trading Act to permit a situation where at least 3 per cent of the casual trading positions are set aside for disabled persons so that in this area of employment policy, persons with a disability could have the same quota applied as in other areas of the public service.

I have carried out a review of the Act and in the context of considering possible amendments I will have the suggestion of a quota for handicapped persons closely examined. If the Deputy has any detailed suggestions on how his proposal could be implemented I would ask him to supply me with these details.
