129 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for Justice the numbers who are presently living illegally in the State and the proposals, if any, he has to deal with the escalating problem of people who are now coming into the State illegally through British ports.

I am not in a position to quantify the number of illegal aliens in the State, because their presence is often unknown to the authorities. Illegal aliens who come to the attention of the authorities are dealt with in accordance with the law in this area.
