Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal School.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

147 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Fintra national school, Killybegs, County Donegal, has recently lost the services of an assistant teacher; and if he will sanction the appointment of a new assistant in that school.

Staffing of a national school is determined on the basis of the number of pupils enrolled on 30 September of the preceding year.

The school in question had a valid enrolment of 92 on 30 September 1991 which under the current staffing schedule warrants a staff of principal and two assistants for the 1992-93 school year as already approved. A third assistant cannot be approved on the basis of the schools enrolment.
