Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Terry Leyden

Ceist:

173 Mr. Leyden asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will have arrangements made for payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

The person concerned claimed Disability Benefit form 12 October 1992.

One of the conditions for payment of this benefit is that at least 39 contributions must be paid or credited on a claimant's behalf in the contribution year governing the claim.

The person concerned is not entitled to payment as only 38 class A1 contributions are recorded for the 1990-91 tax year which governs his claim.

Credited contributions have been awarded up to 26 October 1992, which is the date to which he has been medically certified unfit. These credited contributions, while not entitling him to payment preserve the continuity of his insurance record.
