107 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, he has to introduce, or make available, foreign working capital loans to the agricultural sector in view of the recent interest rate increase and income price cuts, arising out of the currency crisis.
Working capital loans in foreign currency will be provided by the financial institutions to customers in the agricultural sector if there is a demand for such loans. The Government has not at present any plans to provide foreign working capital loans to the agricultural sector. The effect of the interest rate increase and the recent currency changes for agricultural incomes are being kept under review.
