140 Ms. McManus asked the Minister for Health if he has considered the submissions made to him by the Home Birth Centre of Ireland; the steps, if any, he intends to provide additional backup for those planning a home birth; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I recently received the submission from the Home Birth Centre which I read with interest. My Department is currently reviewing the role and effectiveness of the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme in the context of maternity services generally. The review will also include home births. My officials have written to and invited the Home Birth Centre of Ireland to make a submission to the review group.
