Vol. 427 No. 7

Written Answers. - Occupational Therapy Service.

Mary Flaherty

Ceist:

45 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the inadequacy of the occupational therapy service in the Eastern Health Board region and the consequent delays in assessing people for various aids for their disabilities.

I am aware that there can be delays in certain instances in assessing people for various technical aids and appliances to assist them with disabilities.

I will be making available additional funding this year for the development of services for people with physical and sensory disabilities and it is my intention that a proportion of this will be devoted to improving and expanding community based therapy services, including occupational therapy.
