Written Answers. - Provision of Telecommunications Equipment.

Ceist:

99 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the number of items of telecommunications equipment such as fax machines, telephone lines, including phone plus systems, and other such equipment provided by her Department to the ministerial assistants, programme managers, special assistants, or advisers who are acting for herself or her Minister of State which have been paid for through her Department's Vote or other State subvention; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Programme Manager, Personal Assistant to the Minister, Personal Assistant and Special Adviser to the Minister of State have standard issue telephone equipment in their offices; they share the Department's fax facilities.

100 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the total cost of the provision of telecommunications equipment for herself, her Minister of State, special advisers and other such persons for the year ending 31 December 1992; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The total cost of the provision of telecommunications equipment in respect of the Minister, the Minister of State, special advisers and other such persons for the year ended 31 December 1992 was £5,446, made up of £4,332 for equipment and £1,114 for line rentals.

101 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the number of extra mobile phones and car telephones provided for herself, her Minister of State, programme managers, advisers or assistants since the formation of the Government; the cost of such service in a full year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

No extra mobile or car telephones have been provided.

103 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of items of telecommunications equipment such as fax machines, telephone lines including phone plus systems, and other such equipment provided by his Department to the ministerial assistants, programme managers, special assistants, or advisers who are acting for himself or his Ministers of State which have been paid for through his Department's Vote or other State subvention; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Other than normal office telephones, one telephone line for a fax machine, one fax machine and one answering machine were provided by my Department in 1993.

104 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the total cost of the provision of telecommunications equipment for himself, his Ministers of State, special advisers and other such persons for the year ending 31 December 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following items of telecommunications equipment were provided by the Department of Industry and Commerce in 1992.

(1) Car telephone for the Minister for Trade and Marketing.

(2) Replacement car telephone for the Minister for Science and Technology.

(3) Fax machine for the Office of the Minister for Science and Technology.

The total cost of the above equipment was £3,496.90.

A total of three extra mobile telephones were provided by my Department in 1993 at a cost of £3,865.95.
