Wexford): Standing guidelines from my Department to local authorities on land-fill site selection and management include advice on rehabilitation and after-care. Under the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, the new agency will have the role of specifying and publishing criteria for selection, management and termination of use of landfill sites, and of directing and supervising relevant monitoring by local authorities.
Requirements on landfill now being developed at EC level will also address after-care requirements.
