Ceist:181 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Health the amount of money that is owed to each health board by his Department for each of the five years from 1988 to date; and the total amounts owed to each health board at present.
Written Answers. - Money Owed by Department.
The information requested by the Deputy is contained in the attached table. The amounts in balance due in respect of 1992 will have been paid to the boards by the end of this month. This is in line with the established arrangements for the payment of previous years balances.
Almost all the further amount due reflects the excess expenditure incurred by the boards between 1984 and 1989. While this expenditure has been approved by the Department of Finance, the funding arrangements are still under discussion between my Department and the Department of Finance. The extent to which boards exceeded their approved allocation levels in 1990, 1991 and 1992 is not reflected in the figures presented.
