Vol. 430 No. 5

Written Answers. - Car Tyre Slashing.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

135 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the number of cars which had tyres slashed recently in the Navan Road/Kempton/Blackhorse Avenue area of Dublin 7; if the gardaí have thoroughly investigated the matter; the outcome of the Garda investigation; and if the culprits will be brought before the courts.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that damage was caused to the tyres of 173 motor cars in the Navan Road, Blackhorse Avenue, Kinvara Avenue/Kinvara Road area of Dublin 7 on 24 April last.

It is not the practice of the Minister for Justice to give detailed information to the House about individual Garda investigations except in singular instances when the circumstances are so exceptional that such a course is deemed to be appropriate.

All I propose to say in this case is that I have been informed by the Garda authorities that this matter is the subject of a Garda investigation.
