Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - Annual Leave System.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

256 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the reason for the change (details supplied) in the annual leave system for teachers attending summer courses.

There has been no change regarding the approval of Personal Vacation where a teacher attends a summer course approved under rule 58 of the Rules for National Schools.

This rule allows an extension of vacation on a personal basis where a teacher has attended a course or courses of instruction or study approved by me.

This personal vacation may not exceed the number of school days allowed in respect of attendance at any particular course.

Each year a circular is issued from my Department inviting applications from course organisers to submit their courses for approval. This year the circular issued in January and the closing date for receipt of applications was 1 March, 1993.
