Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - Special Employment Schemes.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

33 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he intends introducing any changes regarding the veto exercisable by trade unions on the operation of special employment schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Given the nature of some of its special employment and training schemes and the type of work undertaken, FÁS considers it prudent to consult with the social partners either singly or collectively as appropriate to ensure that it only undertakes projects which would not otherwise be carried out.

I do not plan to ask FÁS to change this arrangement.
