Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Wexford Employment Office.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

120 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has satisfied himself with the facilities at an employment office (details supplied) in County Wexford; if he will upgrade these facilities in view of the unsatisfactory nature of the building and space available to claimants and staff and the lack of privacy; if there will be any review of the arrangements for claimants so that they can be spread out over different time periods to avoid excessive queuing; and if he will make a statement on the matter so that the services at this office can be improved.

The office in question is managed under contract for my Department and the premises are provided by the manager. The manager has been trying without success to acquire the existing premises and adjoining property with a view to extending and re-furbishing the office. She has also looked for new premises in the town. Her efforts, which todate have been unsuccessful, are continuing.

With regard to the matter of queueing my Department will review signing arrangements at the office to see if any improvements can be made.
