Vol. 431 No. 2

Written Answers. - Female FCA Members' Clothing.

Pat Cox

Ceist:

31 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Defence the items of uniform clothing to be issued to female members of the FCA; and his views on whether it is fair to require female FCA members to spend £40 of their own money to purchase a military hat which is part of their uniform.

All items of uniform are issued to members of An Fórsa Cosanta Aitiuil at public expense and members are not required to purchase any part thereof from their own funds.

The items of uniform which are issued to female members are set out in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate with the official report.

The standard headgear for female members of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil is a beret which is supplied to them as part of their initial uniform issue. A hat does not form part of their uniform.
Appendix "F"
Articles of clothing, other ranks' pattern, issuable subject to the provisions of Part XV of Defence Force Regulations R.5. to female non-commissioned personnel of An Forsa Cosanta Áitiúil.
