Vol. 431 No. 2

Written Answers. - Howth (Dublin) Fish Auction Hall.

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

98 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Marine the progress, if any, made on discussions concerning the administration of the new Howth Fish Auction Hall; and if he will ensure that the views of the Howth Fishermen's Association will be taken into account.

Discussions on administration and management of the new fish auction hall in Howth are at an advanced stage. The views of Howth Fishermen's Association have been fully considered at all stages of this project, from design of the building to the current stage of negotiation for the proposed management of the auctions. The last such consultation with the fishermen occurred as recently as this week. The intention is to continue consultation so that the fishermen have a real input into operation and management of the auctions.

For the record, the co-operation of Howth Fishermen's Association has been extremely valuable in advancing the entire project.
