Ceist:

99 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the total rateable domestic valuation for each of the years from 1976 to date in respect of County Kildare; the rate support grant or alternative in lieu thereof available to the Kildare County Council for the years in question; the total number of vehicular units registered in the county for each of these years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested in respect of rate support grant allocations to Kildare County Council and the total number of licensed mechanically propelled vehicles registered in County Kildare are set out in the following table. The information requested in respect of valuations is not available in my Department.

Note 1. The RSG figure for 1977 comprises the grants for 25 per cent Rates Relief on domestic valuations in addition to rates relief on agricultural land.
Note 2. The Rate Support Grant payable to local authorities generally was adjusted on a number of occasions to take account of the termination of various levies and demands, including supplementary welfare allowance, arterial drainage, ACOT, vocational education committee Pensions, the writing off of Local Loans Fund debt repayments and the introduction of direct rate payments by the ESB to local authorities.
