Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Coastal Erosion.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

257 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the seriousness of coastal erosion at Magheraroarty, Gortahork, County Donegal; and if he has any plans to prevent further erosion at this location.

Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

258 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Marine if, in view of the serious coastal erosion at Magheraroarty, Gortahork, County Donegal, he has any plans to make funds available for coastal protection there.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 257 and 258 together.

In late 1992, the Department of the Marine, on behalf of the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht undertook a rock armouring project at Magheraroarty, County Donegal. The Department has no plans to undertake further protection works at this location at this stage.
