Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

264 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a sheep bounty will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

Payment of the advance of the 1993 ewe premium was made to the person named on 3 September 1993.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

265 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will be granted an additional suckler cow quota from the national reserve.

My Department has not yet established the criteria for allocating suckler cow quota from the national reserve. When these criteria are announced the person named can then submit a formal application for reserve quota supported by appropriate documentary evidence to my Department at Michael Davitt House, Castlebar.

Gerard C. Connolly

Ceist:

266 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a slaughter premium has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

My Department is unable to trace any 1993 EC deseasonalisation slaughter premium scheme application from the person named.

John Ellis

Ceist:

267 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if arrears of grants due to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim under the headage and premium schemes will now be paid.

The person named applied for grants for the years 1981 to 1988 in the name of his brother who was not resident in the State. As it seems that the applications were made in the brother's name with a view to the circumvention of possible problems with the off-farm income conditions which applied to the cattle headage and suckler cow schemes at that time my Department intends recovering the grants paid on foot of the invalid applications from grants due to the person named for recent years.

John Ellis

Ceist:

268 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made for the payment of a suckler grant to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

The person named is not eligible for grants under the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme as she was not the registered herdowner at the time of her application for the scheme in June 1992. Her son was the registered herdowner at that time and he was not eligible to apply for the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme as he included an in-calf heifer on his 1991 application and under EC rules had to be debarred from the 1992 scheme.

The person named did not apply to become registered herdowner until October 1992.
