Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Mayo Commonage Division.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

273 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the position regarding the division of the Aillemore Commonage, Louisburgh, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A proposal for a scheme to divide this commonage was formulated in 1991. The shareholders were notified of the details of the proposed scheme and informed of their rights to lodge formal objections. Since then the Land Commission has been awaiting the final resolution of an appeal to the High Court against the compulsory division of another commonage in County Mayo before continuing with these types of division. If the shareholders in the Aillemore commonage have reached agreement on the proposed scheme of division they should contact the Land Commission and arrangements will be made to complete this matter using voluntary procedures.
