Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Airports Promotion.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

330 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the amount of money per user spent in 1993 in promoting Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Knock and Kerry Airports; if he has satisfied himself that this money is spent to promote extra trade through the airports and not to steal business from one another; and if he will ensure that for 1994 no airport is at a financial disadvantage, for promoting itself, against other airports.

The promotion of Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports is a matter for Aer Rianta cpt as part of the day to day management and operations of the airports. The amount of money per user spent in 1993 in promoting the airports is therefore a matter for the company.

Knock and Kerry Airports are owned and managed by private undertakings and marketing of the airports is a matter for the airport companies.
