Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Food Hygiene Regulations.

John Bruton

Ceist:

347 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health when he requested the Food Safety Advisory Committee to consider the question of the impact of the implementation of food hygiene regulations on the closure of small food producing enterprises based in private homes; when he expects to receive a report in response to this inquiry; and if he will take any action.

The Food Safety Advisory Committee were asked at the end of June to consider if the requirements for registration under the Food Hygiene Regulations of food premises engaged in bona fide home baking for local markets are unduly restrictive.

The committee have recently completed their report and I am at present considering their recommendations. I am having a copy of the report sent to the Deputy.
