413 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of extra facilities at Scoil Mhuire, Clane, County Kildare; whether she will be in a position to meet these needs in the context of the 1994 Estimates; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Clane Community School has sufficient accommodation to cater for the demand for pupil places in the area. Accordingly, it is not proposed to provide an extension to the school.
Due to the demand on capital resources available and the necessity to give priority to the provision of essential school places it has not been possible to make funding available for the provision of physical education facilities at this school. The provision of indoor sports accommodation in existing schools, such as Clane Community School will resume as soon as pressure on available resources for urgent classroom accommodation has eased.
