Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - European Community Law Breaches by Ireland.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

120 Mr. Hogan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the fines that have been imposed by the European Court of Justice in respect of breaches of European Community law by Ireland since 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The European Court of Justice does not have jurisdiction to impose fines on the member states of the Community for breaches of Community law and therefore no fines have been imposed on the State by the Court.
