Ceist:160 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if she will grant assistance from funds available to her Department from the national lottery for the completion of a community hall (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities which was administered by my Department was amalgamated in 1990 with the amenity grant scheme operated by the Department of Environment and the local authorities, who are now responsible for processing such applications.
The funds available to my Department under this scheme are fully committed to existing projects and it is not possible, therefore, to provide funding for any additional projects under this programme at present.
The question of the allocation of a grant for the completion of the community hall referred to could be considered in the event of funds being made available to my Department in the context of the 1994 Estimates for Public Services.
