I propose to take Questions Nos. 201 and 202 together. The information required by the Deputy is given in tabular form. The data is in respect of two consecutive school-years, that is 1991-92 and 1992-93. Statistical data in respect of the current school-year are only in the process of collection from the approximately 3,200 national schools throughout the country and it will be some time before corresponding information is available in respect of 1993-94.
To conform to statistical norms and to maintain consistency with the format in which data are presented in my Department's annual statistical report, the class-size bands differ slightly from those indicated by the Deputy in his question.
