Vol. 435 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ewe Premium.

Liam Burke

Ceist:

48 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason the herd numbers of some applicants for ewe premia, and for a quota from the national reserve for this premium were cancelled; if he will give an assurance that no financial disadvantage will ensue for the farmers concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Brendan McGahon

Ceist:

75 Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason the herd numbers of some applicants for ewe premium, and for a quota from the national reserve for this premium were cancelled; if he will give an assurance that no financial disadvantage will ensue for the farmers concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 48 and 75 together.

I am aware of the problem raised by the Deputies and it is being examined in my Department at present. I can assure the Deputies that there will be no financial loss to the farmers concerned because of the problem. In the meantime if the Deputies have any individual cases that they wish to bring to my attention, I will arrange to have them resolved on an ad hoc basis.
