Written Answers. - Ewe Premium.

Mary Flaherty

Ceist:

61 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of flock owners who have applied for ewe premium from the national reserve; the consultations that he will hold on the allocation of this reserve; when the allocations will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

69 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of flock owners who have applied for ewe premium from the national reserve; the consultations that he will hold on the allocation of this reserve; when the allocation will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 61 and 69 together.

Approximately 10,500 flock owners have applied for an allocation of quota from the national reserve. The criteria for allocating quota from the reserve have already been decided by my Department. As soon as all the applications for reserve quota have been processed which is expected to take a further six to eight weeks, successful applicants will be notified of the quota allocated to them.
