Ceist:

65 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give the rate of payment, in Irish pounds, under the young farmer installation aid programme, payable in each of the countries of the EC; and if he will make a statement concerning the low rate payable in Ireland.

The current rate of installation aid premium expressed in Irish pounds paid out in each member state is as follows:

The figures are not available for Italy and the scheme is not operated by the UK.

It is considered that the level of premium paid to young farmers in this country is reasonable having regard in particular to other demands for funding and taking into account the generous early retirement scheme which is being introduced.
