72 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will make a statement on the current status of the application lodged by his Department under the Agri-Environment Programme accompanying measures of CAP Reform in Ireland; if he will give details of projects and schemes that will be aided under this Programme; and when he expects the Programme to be in operation.
The proposals submitted by my Department to the EC Commission to give effect to the Agri-Environment Regulation of CAP reform are the subject of ongoing negotiation between my officials and the Commission.
Details of our agri-environment proposals were set out in a press release which I issued on 28 July, a copy of which I have sent to the Deputy. I expect our agri-environment programme to be in operation early in 1994.
