Ceist:93 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, in view of the demand from lone parents for the vocational training opportunities scheme, he will ensure that all those who wish to apply for the scheme are able to do so.

There are about 3,000 places available on the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme in the current academic year of which a proportion have been set aside for lone parents, spouses of people in receipt of Unemployment Assistance and people with disabilities.
Applications for participations in the scheme are now being received from lone parents. At this stage it is envisaged that all applications from lone parents will be accommodated.
