Vol. 435 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Kerry Group Water Scheme.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

120 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the proposed Ballahantourigh, Counguilla and Canker Group Water Supply Scheme near Scartaglen, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that an adjacent group, Currow Hill group water scheme, are revising their design, at the request of Kerry County Council, in order to improve water pressure and peak flows within their distribution system. This involves re-routing the link main through an area which would be served by the proposed Ballahantourigh, Counguilla and Canker scheme. My Department and the county council are currently reviewing the design data for both schemes with a view to the possible integration of sections of the distribution system. The Ballahantourigh, Counguilla and Canker proposal will be considered further in the light of this review.
