68 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment if finance for the provision of sewage treatment works for Galway city has been sanctioned by the EC; if his Department has replied to all queries from the EC in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Galway main drainage project, incorporating proposals for sewage treatment works, is among the environmental projects submitted earlier this year to the EC Commission for assistance under the interim Cohesion Fund instrument. No decision has been announced to date by the EC Commission in respect of this application. My Department has replied to all queries from the EC Commission relating to this proposal.
