Ceist:168 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if the necessary finance will be made available to enable work to commence in 1994 on the improvement of the Carrentrilla stretch of roadway on the N57 leading to Ballina, County Mayo.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 126, 168 and 169 together.
The position regarding the provision of finance for the improvement of particular sections of national or other roads will be determined in the context of decisions on the 1994 road grant allocations generally. These allocations will be notified to local authorities as early as possible in the new year.
