152 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to produce the waste Bill vis-á-vis date of publication and process of implementation in view of the crisis levels of waste generated and the expense of providing landfill sites.

The Government has authorised the drafting of a waste Bill in accordance with a general scheme submitted by the Minister for the Environment. Drafting of the Bill is now proceeding urgently with a view to publication as soon as possible.
