Ceist:

215 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number of school attendance officers currently employed under the School Attendance Act, 1926; the designated areas within which each school attendance officer operates, the number of vacancies which exist at present for school attendance officers; and the districts where such vacancies exist.

The position with regard to school attendance officers is as folows:

The deployment of a school attendance officer is a matter for the local authority under which the officer is employed. Therefore, details regarding the arrangements within a specific district, from time to time, are not available in my Department.
