Vol. 436 No. 4

Written Answers. - Use of Crow Bangers.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

31 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if he will take into account the ban on crow bangers in Holland and their control in other EC states and, in so doing, ensure that those living near farms are afforded some peace in the countryside, particularly at night; the way in which he proposes to tackle this problem of noise pollution; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Wexford): The Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 contains new general provisions for the control of noise involving a nuisance or disamenity. Detailed consideration is being given at present to the further provisions which might be made, by way of regulations under that Act, to strengthen existing controls.
