Vol. 436 No. 4

Written Answers. - Membership of EC Structural Fund Review Committees.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

100 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Finance the names and addresses of the current members of each EC Structural Funds Review Committee; whether it is proposed to alter the role and/or membership of these committees in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A list of names and addresses of current members of the sub-regional review committees for the Structural Funds has been forwarded to the Deputy.

The Government have decided that the remit of the new regional authorities should include responsibility for reviewing the implementation of measures under the National Development Plan. Each regional authority will be assisted by a broadly-based committee which will include representatives of local authorities and other public authorities in the region as well as Government Departments.
Membership will include the social partners currently represented on the sub-regional review committees and there will be provision as now for representation of the EC Commission. In addition, the Government have decided that, in view of the increased emphasis on the involvement of voluntary and community groups in measures assisted by the Structural Funds, it would be appropriate to include agreed representation of this sector on the relevant committees.
